Getting to and from the Walking trail - Falmouth, Fowey, Plymouth

If you ask us for a quote we will include public transport or parking information to suit your walking holiday and for those booking we advise and assist in helping you to work out and book the best travel options for your walk.

With excellent train connections this is the easiest section of the South West Coast Path to walk if arriving by train.

SW Coast Path Walking arrival by train Plymouth and Falmouth UKTrain Arrival  - Fast direct trains run from London, The Midlands and the North to Truro station where you change for the short 1/2 hour branch line run to Falmouth Town station. The fastest trains complete the journey in around 5 hours from London.

Train Departure -  From Plymouth you are at the main regional rail hub with direct services to London, The North, Midlands and Scotland. The fastest trains back to London take only 3 hours from Plymouth

You can also arrive and depart by train from Looe halfway along the trail. Fowey and Mevagissey are easily reached from the same train services above which connect with buses to the coast taking around 20 minutes - ask for details.

Parking information for walking the South Western Coastal Path PlymouthCar -  Long stay parking is available in the council run car parks in both Falmouth and Plymouth and we advise on the options with all our itineraries and quotes. Note that as its a big city,  parking in Plymouth tends to be around twice the price of parking in Falmouth. In Falmouth we also have some accommodation choices with unrestricted parking or free parking options.

Getting back to your car by public transport involves taking the train between Falmouth Town and Plymouth.  Average travel time for the full journey is under 2 hours.

Public Transport Information for the Cornish Coast Path at Plymouth UK Coach Arrival -  National Express Coaches from London run to Falmouth with connections from other parts of the UK.

Coach Departure - There are direct National Express Coach options from Plymouth back to London with connections to other UK destinations.

Information for overseas visitors on the South West Coast Path CornwallArriving from Overseas - Those arriving from overseas will usually arrive in the UK at London Gatwick or London Heathrow airport from where you can catch direct trains to Bodmin Parkway Station for Padstow (see the train information above). Those arriving at London Heathrow will usually take a 1/2 hour underground train / overland train service into London Paddington to catch the fast inter city trains to Devon and Cornwall.

Internal Flights - Newquay airport in North Cornwall allows access to the trails by train from Newquay Station to Falmouth or Plymouth.   Private transfers can also be arranged from the airport to the trail.

There are also regional airports at Exeter and Bristol that take international flights and connect by train to Plymouth and Falmouth.  These will be quicker than flying via London if you can find international flights arriving at these airports.
