The Living Wage
The Living Wage
What Is The "REAL" Living Wage?
It is NOT the current Government Living Wage or the minimum wage - many responsible employers feel this is not set at a realistic rate for low paid workers.
The "Real" Living Wage is a higher and more realistic rate calculated according to the basic cost of living in the UK.
It is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually by the Living Wage Association.
The current REAL living wage is £1.45 per hour ABOVE the Governments living wage.
Responsible Employers become accredited "Real" Living Wage employers and choose to pay the higher rate (or more) on a voluntary basis.
We are proud to be registered as an Accredited Employer along with organisations like IKEA, OXFAM, KMPG, NESTLE, ITV and The Law Society.
There are over 3000 of us in the UK that have committed to the scheme and display the Living Wage Employer Mark - an ethical badge for responsible pay.
Why Have We Chosen To Pay More Than "The Living Wage?
Paying a "Real" Living Wage is good for business, good for the individual and good for society.
We chose to pay the living wage because it benefits our employees. It gives them the opportunity to provide for themselves and their families.
Causes of poverty can be complex but as an employer we do not want to be part of the problem and want as much as possible to ensure our staff do not suffer these difficulties.
It benefits us as an employer but also those we provide services to. Our staff like working for us. Our staff gives us their best because they feel they are rewarded.
Accreditation
We are accredited through The Living Wage Foundation. and you will find us listed on their website.
This means we ensure that all are our staff are paid the "real" living wage.
We believe that work should be a way out of poverty
