Day 5 - Fowey to Looe - The South West Coast Path
Distance 12 miles - Grade - 7 strenuous grade to Polperro and 5 moderate grade to Looe - What these grades mean
Leaving panoramic Fowey is always hard, but the tiny foot ferry to Polruan crossing the harbour makes departure more palatable. Thereafter you join a challenging remote and wild coastline heading east, with untouched and relatively unknown beaches, hidden smuggling coves and soaring cliffs yet without a house in sight for over 8 miles on this section of the Cornish Coastal Path.
This is the best day of the South West Coast Path between Mevagissey and Plymouth with the drama of Pencarrow Head and the golden sands of Lantic Bay protected from the tourist crowds by the lack of access....except on foot.
For lunch you will be exploring the maze of little medieval lanes and cottages at the perfect little fishing harbour of Polperro, before an easier afternoon amble through green and lush coastline into the bustle of Looe Town, passing sheltered Talland Bay - perfect for a last afternoon Cream Tea before tomorrow’s walk back into the remote interior.
