Getting to and from the walking trail - Plymouth and Brixham

If you ask us for a quote we will include public transport or parking information to suit your walking holiday and for those booking we advise and assist in helping you to work out and book the best travel options for your walk.

Arriving and departing by public transport works best for this route and saves a fairly long or expensive journey back to your car at the end of your walk though it is possible if you prefer to drive - see below

Devon Coastal Path Walking Holidays arrival by trainTrain Arrival  - Fast direct trains run from London, The Midlands and the North to Plymouth station - Fastest trains from London take only 3 hours.

Train Departure -  From Brixham regular buses take 20 minutes to Paignton Station or 50 minutes to Torquay.  Trains run back to London Paddington from Paignton (most change at Exeter) taking 3 hours 20 minutes OR a similar time from Torquay changing at Newton Abbot Station on route.  You can if you want a relaxing end to your holiday also take a ferry across Torbay from Brixham to Torquay instead of the bus or we can arrange a private transfer.

Those arriving or departing at Dartmouth can travel out in style and use the superb Dartmouth Steam Railway to reach the main trainline at Paignton.

South West Coast Path in Devon Parking and Driving informationCar -  Long stay parking is available in Plymouth and Brixham. Prices in Plymouth are more expensive as its a large city so we usually suggest leaving your car in Brixham.

Getting back to your car by public transport takes around 2 hours by bus changing at Paignton or by bus and then train from Paignton. We can also arrange private transfers.

Devon Coast Path Walk public transport Information Coach Arrival -  National Express Coaches from London run to Plymouth with connections from other parts of the UK.

Coach Departure - There is also a return service to London direct from Brixham with further options from Paignton and Torquay which can be reached from the end of the trail by ferry, private transfer or bus

Local buses connect to Noss Mayo, Salcombe, Bigbury, Dartmouth and Torcross for those wanting to start or end at a midway point just ask for advice.

Devon Walking Holidays on the SW Coast Path arrival from OverseasArriving from Overseas - Those arriving from overseas will usually arrive in the UK at London Gatwick or London Heathrow airport from where you can catch direct trains to Plymouth. Those arriving at London Heathrow will usually take a 1/2 hour underground train / overland train service into London Paddington to catch the fast inter city trains to Devon and Cornwall.  Bristol and Exeter airports are close to the walk and also have a number of international flights

Internal Flights - Exeter airport allows easy access to the starting points at Plymouth within around 1 hour on the train and departure from Brixham back to Exeter airport takes around 2.5 hours - bus to Paignton (20 minutes) and then train to Exeter with a short bus or taxi ride out to the airport.
