Boscastle to Port Isaac

Follow the footsteps of the Saints, crossing from Padstow to Fowey.

Lanivet to Fowey

The Saints Way

Today cross Cornwall Coast to Coast via Redmoor Nature Reserve.

Fowey to Looe

The South Cornwall Coast Path

Leaving Fowey is hard, but the foot ferry to Polruan makes it more palatable.

Looe to Jamaica Inn

The Smugglers Way

Today is longest day, but with steady walking and climbing throughout.

Jamaica Inn to Boscastle

The Smugglers Way

Your final day takes you over the highest points and peaks in Cornwall.

Granite formations at Minions, Bodmin Moor, Cornwall

A tough but very satisfying walk. Crossing the open Bodmin moor with it’s amazing, sculpted tors feels like a million miles from anywhere. Descending to Boscastle at the end of a long day walking from the unique Jamaica Inn, I felt like a real adventurer coming into port.

Pricing On This Route

A single walker staying in single or single occupancy en-suite rooms can expect to pay somewhere between £190 and £220 per night, including luggage transfers.

Two people sharing a double or twin en-suite room can expect to pay somewhere between £120 and £150 per person per night,  inclusive of luggage transfers.

Please be aware that these prices depend on accommodation chosen, time of year, etc. and are indicative only, based on customers walking with us between 2021 and 2023. For accurate pricing please request a quote.

Our prices include -

  • - Your choices of good quality en-suite B&B, Inn and small hotel accommodation with full breakfast (where available), together with upgrade options.

  • - Detailed walking route planning and ongoing support from specialist walking advisors from your enquiry through to the end of the walk

  • - A full booking administration and holiday management service including information on travel to and from your walking routes

  • - Secure and reliable daily luggage transfers between accommodations

  • - The best available maps & guidebooks along with your own personal detailed route notes & itinerary posted to you whether you are based in the UK or overseas

Please see below for six factors which affect your quoted price -

1 - The time of year you are walking -  The low season (outside of May to September) is generally cheaper than the peak months.

2 - How early you book. Cheaper accommodation tends to book out first so to get the best prices and choice of accommodation we recommend you book as early as you can. Bookings open for the season the previous summer.

3 - Which routes and areas you choose - Cornwall, South Devon and Dorset are the more expensive regions while Wales, Somerset, North Devon and Dartmoor tend to offer better prices. We also often run seasonal special offers on certain routes so ask if these would be of interest.

4 - Type of accommodation  -  You can choose to upgrade to luxury hotels or downgrade to basic B&B's and we will try to match your walk to your budget. Quotes will show standard options and the costs for any upgrades so you can pick and choose to suit your plans.

5 - The number of walkers - rates are generally based on 2 walkers -  the more walkers the cheaper prices get as we split the costs of providing the walk between the group.

6 - Luggage Transfers - our quotes include two prices - with and without luggage transfers so if you want to keep the costs down you can choose to carry your own luggage to avoid those charges.

If you want to try to get the lowest prices let us know your budget - we can advise honestly and openly what is possible - we don't want to see anyone unable to walk the routes due to costs.

To request a quote costs nothing and there is no commitment to book - so do try us! We usually have quotes emailed back to you within a few days and these documents are very detailed with accommodation choices, website links to the accommodations, route descriptions, daily walking grade and mileage, travel info to the trail and of course a guaranteed price to consider.  All for the specific walk YOU want.

Travel To And From The Route

Train -  Easiest options are the Mainline fast Trains from London and the Midlands which run regularly to Liskeard or Looe and you can start the walk from either location. Liskeard is less than 4 hours on the fast train from London and for Looe you change here for the stunning scenic branch line journey to Looe down the Looe Valley taking around 45 minutes.

If you want to stay in one of the smarter harbour towns then trains to Bodmin Parkway take 4 hours from where you can reach Padstow in an hour by bus. For Fowey the trainline runs close by at St Austell and Par stations and regular buses are around 20 minutes onto Fowey. We can help with private transfers from the stations if you prefer.

Reviews & Feedback

Granite_formations_Minions_on_Bodmin_Moor_in_Cornwall.jpg

For fit and experienced walkers this is the ultimate and most varied weeks walking in Cornwall. Four very different sections of trail, completing two mid distance Cornwall Coast to Coast footpaths as well as two very different sections of the South West Coast Path and a crossing of the highest point in Cornwall.

From desolate moorland tors, to unspoilt fishing villages, experience precipitous cliffs, hidden coves, dramatic tors, golden deserted beaches, inland forests, rivers valleys and high moorland. Walking on ancient drove roads, tracing smugglers trails and the paths of the revenue men who tried to find them, you will track the Pilgrimage routes of ancient saints and holy men one day and follow in the well worn boot steps of hardy cliff top miners the next.

Encounter ancient Celtic crosses, holy wells, old mine works and bronze age cliff top forts, passing locations that inspired and were adored by writers as diverse as Thomas Hardy, Tennyson, Daphne du Maurier and John Betjeman. For nature lovers keep aware as you pass through the habitat of seals, otters, deer, peregrine falcons, buzzards and if you are lucky puffins,  adders and basking sharks.

A 7 day walking challenge or up to 11 days for those who want to undertake the route at a slower rate it’s not all toil on the trail. Recover with overnight stops at cosmopolitan Padstow, the idyllic fishing village at Port Isaac, infamous lonely Jamaica Inn as well as the historically rich and unique natural harbours at Fowey and Boscastle.

A superb weeks adventure for experienced walkers where the real prize is the variety and breadth of the walk - a trip through the many facets and faces of Cornwall old and New.

Take the challenge and take a walking holiday that keeps you in the remote and real Cornwall away from the more crowded tourist trails whilst ensuring you make the occasional visit to some of its more stunning favourite locations.
